Copper

A metal with unique qualities

Copper has been used for thousands of years and remains irreplaceable today: it protects health, can be recycled endlessly and powers the energy transition.

Why copper?

01

Antimicrobial

Copper naturally eliminates most bacteria, viruses and fungi on its surface on contact. In drinking water systems, it limits the growth of micro-organisms and the formation of biofilm.

02

Helping fight healthcare-associated infections

Thanks to its antimicrobial properties, copper is used in healthcare facilities to reduce surface contamination and help fight hospital-acquired infections. It is also the reference material for medical gas networks (EN 13348 copper tube).

03

Infinitely recyclable

Copper is 100% recyclable, again and again, with no loss of its properties. Recycled copper requires far less energy than mined copper: a virtuous material, fully part of the circular economy.

04

At the heart of renewable energy

Wind turbines, heat pumps, air conditioning, solar panels, electric vehicles: copper is found in the vast majority of energy transition technologies, thanks to its unrivalled electrical and thermal conductivity.
